Hafa Adai,

Congratulations to Luis Blanco for his promotion to becoming a Brailian Jiujitsu Brown Belt. A salute to the flourishing identity of combat sports in the Military with the  1st Annual National Guard Birthday Combatives Tournament on December13th Spike22Athletics will be hosting Guams first Submission grappling team challenge at their new facility in Tumon 12pm this Saturday. And the Marianas Open Jiujitsu and Submission Grappling tournament has set their date for the next event on February 21st  of 2009. Spike22 is looking at sending some fighters to Dublin in February for Irelands premier kickboxing event, Kollision4.  Guam’s UltimateFighter hopeful, Joe Duarte is on island and hosted a fundraiser in support of Erica’s House just last night and a host f locals training abroad are on their way back with new techniques t share and cntribute for the holidays.  TrenchWar9:The Annihilation was a success . The promoters of TrenchWarz9 succeeded in filling the house with Saipan vs. Guam fight card and with CNMI’s debut Female MMA bout. The last few years has much t say about CNMI Combatives. Whereas Guam in the past stood far ahead in competition among the islands, we are finding a closer balance in MarianasMMA largely through the efforts of the movers and shakers in Saipan Combat Sports. Under 5years into the game,

Saipan has since climbed the ranks offering the Marianas a very competitive stock of MMAs heavyweight and superheavyweight categories . With new talent rising from every other weight division, Saipan has become its own epicenter via s relatively frequent combative event atmosphere.

As much as this is an applause  for the competitiors ,organizers, and influences in Saipan MMA in giving our athletes the benefits of Martial Arts Competition;, this is also an ongoing study of how we can better position the people of our islands  for opportunities stemming from humilty, confidence, and fortitude nurtured  into the Martial Arts Mind.

Is Saipan tougher than Guam or is Guam tougher than Saipan? Who is the best heavyweight? Who is the best pound for pound fighter? Is Kickboxing better than Jiujitsu. In some respectsthese can be considered important questions.

However, We need to give equal if not more attention to the fact that in the scheme of things; in chasing excellence in competitive results, we are in the pursuit of knowledge and We are on the road to self-improvement.

”What can martial arts do for our islands?” This is a good question to ponder.

True, a decade’s streak  of locally successful MMA ventures has proven that Marital Arts can entertain. But thousands of years of wisemen, poetry, precision technique, and community service continues to prove that Martial Arts can also educate.

In a world of infinite possibilities, There is always a chance that successful MMA wont be around forever. While exciting ourselves t the fact that our islands are growing as a powerhouse in international MMA as athletics. we should never forget the gifts of virtue–like responsibility, respect, and moral code MMA cultivates in us as martial art.

The pool of talent is fast growing in the islands and for those uf us who might want to take things far in Mixed Martial Arts Competition, the reality is that thre are good chances that events aren’t as frequent as daylight and thatthere and there are increasing numbers of quality fighter- athletes also in hard training waiting for their chance at 15minutes of fame.

Hooray for Rising talent, hungry fighters, a flourishing combat sports industry, and international exposure.. So for those in training, hopefully we can discover that all the years we may have spent practicing techniques in combat, we have, in the process, discovered better strategies in life; so when our bodies grow old and weak we can celebrate and live fruitfully in the strength of spirit and hopefully be proud that we have done our part in providing (for our people) a better environment for our fighters as fluorishing athletes and , ever-presently, as community citizens.

Thanks for dropping by.
