Hafa Adai,

Things have slowed down temporarily for loally related MMA so we should all keep our attention focused for Saipan’s TrenchWarz9:TheAnnihiliation for December 12th at the World Resort .
UFC veteran Renato Verissimo held a very successful 2week instructional reminding key players in our MMA community the values of Jiujitsu in skill as well as art. Big congratulations to the members of the Spike22 and Purebred/LLoydIrvin Jiujitsu Academies. The word on the street is that there was heaps of Jiujitsu belt promotions. These things don’t come easy. May the Mariana Islands join you in taking things to the next level.

Guam was well represented in the region in our island’s landmark performance in Asia’s largest BJJ event. Congratulations to Team Purebred/LLoydIrvin Jiujitsu for bringing home from The (AOJC) Asian Open Jiu Jitsu Campionships in Japan–11 gold, 4silver, and 2bronze medals, as well as a 2nd place team trophy in the overall Asian Novice and a 3rd place team trophy in the Asian Team Divisions

In a sport once entirely dominated by Brazilian JIujitsu, Recent changes in MMA Rules and Regualtions seemed to have given more importance to strength, stamina, and athleticism and less importance to certain aspects of Jiujitsu, which is deservedly knwn as the gentle art.

Always in the preference of giving respect to roots, it is key not only to digest BJJ in the shadow of mixed martial arts competition, we should respect the contributions Jiujitsu and The famous Gracie Family have brought to the internationally successful sport of modern MMA. but also for respect for what BJJ has accomplished as its own identity in the competitive world of combat sports and in the bigger scheme of positive networking.

In light ofthese things positive that have come from the gentle art, lets celebrate Jiujitsu on Guam for at least two things: For what it has done for us as Martial Art: because sincere training in the arts has offered us more than Martial skill, but also fruits in wisdom and spirit. And for what Jiujitsu has done for us as sport: Besides providing Guam with great recognition and a very successful track record in international competition; a massive ambition for our Jiujitsu players has cultivated a direction and ambition far beyond just competition credit; it has nurtured values, among our people– a sense of commitment, camraderie, and local pride..

For some words of wisdom taken from the Purebred myspace profilie,

“The greater the loyalty of a group toward the group, the greater is the motivation among the members to achieve the goals of the group, and the greater the probability that the group will achieve its goals”

For those of us who might nt be the biggest Jiujitsu fans, let us remember that it was Brazilian Jiujitsu and the legendary Gracie Family that paved the road for modern MMA today. Though Jiujitsu may not dominate the MMA world today as it has done before,BJJS gravity as martial art continues to educate and positively service the world as its own identity.

So Let’s applaud and continue the undying efforts of a few for, through Jiujitsu, they have paved way for opportunity for the many in servicing Guam by not only improving our identity in world athletics but for more importantly for providing our island with another great opportunity and study in body, mind, and spirit.

Thanks for dropping by.
