Humbled, blessed and stoked are the best words to describe recieving the black belt.

I am humbled by my instructors Enson Inoue and Mike Fowler for having faith in me. Not just teachers but friends, they are the yin and yang of my jiu jitsu.

I feel blessed with the people and experiences along the way. My wife Dara has been with me thru the ups and downs and has always kept me focused. My boys Cole and Kyle who make me feel like a superhero. My mom for accepting and respecting my love for jiu jitsu as a different form of higher education. Melchor Manibusan for showing me wrestling, attitude and heart to become a complete grappler. SPIKE 22, GROUND FU, TRENCH TECH, Jess Taitano, Tetsuji Kato, Cucci Alvarez for the familia support. FOKAI for all the love, the familia is my heart. The students at Team Purebred/Lloyd Irvin BJJ for fueling this wicked life vehicle called BJJ, you are my soul.

Stoked that my journey has only just begun.

Thank You and Si Yuus Maase. God bless us all

Rock & Roll Berto! Congratulations on your promotion to black belt. We knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Your actions and commitment to the sport have proven that you are more than worthy. You are not only a dedicated student, respected instructor, and feirce competitor, but a true ambassador of GUAM’s Worldclass BJJ.

May your success and acomplisments in this sport inspire both you and Guams BJJ future to find our home at the top of the competition podium.

Congrats Bert!! You have done what so many have tried to achieve but so few have been able to accomplish.

I’ve always been and still am very proud to tell people where ever I go that I trained and learned BJJ from you.

Take care and keep up the good work.
